Medical Insurance Billing & Coding

Last modified on 5/6/2004

The Medical Insurance Billing and Coding program trains students to file insurance claims and familiarizes students with code procedures, form composition and understanding diagnoses. The program will help students to improve their skills, stay on top of the most recent policies and provide information on managed care plans and other health care programs and policies. Those who complete the Medical Insurance Billing and Coding program are qualified to work as billing associates, claims assistant professionals or electronic claims processors. Medical coders and billers are employed by hospitals, clinics, physicians' offices, health maintenance organizations (HMOs), mental health care facilities, nursing homes, insurance companies, consulting firms, health data organizations and information system vendors.
